Flow

Our flow practice is designed to bring heat and vitality to the body and mind. A dynamic class, you can expect to challenge your endurance while bringing strength and flexibility. 

Flow classes are dynamic in nature with quick transitions between asana, it is recommended to have some prior yoga experience. 

Our classes listed as ‘heated’ are seasonly adjusted at our studio. Using infrared heating technology, temperatures range from 28 to 36 degrees.

 

Ashtanga

Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic practice which moves through a set sequence of asana (postures), synchronising breath and movement known as ‘vinyasa’ alongside focussed gaze points ‘drishti’ and energy locks ‘bandhas’.

In our Ashtanga led class you will be guided through a curated set sequence of postures based on the primary series to suit the length of class, allowing you to build an internal heat and, gradually over time, increasing your strength and flexibility.

The Ashtanga practice is perfectly designed to realign, detoxify and purify the body and the nervous system. An excellent foundation to any yoga practice, suitable for beginners through to more experienced practitioners.

Mellow

A fusion practice blending yin yoga with a slower paced flow. Designed to to strike the balance between movement and stillness, lengthening and strengthening the whole body. This class will not only condition the body but will support an increased mental focus and mindfulness through consciously aware movement. Expect slower transitions and movements between asana with some longer holds. Consider this class a moving meditation.

Hatha

Experience a Hatha focussed practice that will challenge the entire body as you work to build strength, balance and flexibility. During this class you will learn to integrate asana and pranayama techniques to control your breath and focus the mind, leading to a deeper, calmer practice. Expect a true union of the body and mind.

Perfect for beginners through to more experienced students looking to deepen and refine.

Yin

Yin yoga is a wholesome practice designed to work deep into the body’s connective tissue and fascia. An excellent practice to increase flexibility, reduce muscular tension bringing balance to the body for anybody who engages in more dynamic yoga styles and exercise. Yin yoga is the perfect way to unwind and create space in the body and mind by using the support of props to hold passive shapes that are held between 3 and 8 minutes. By enabling the muscles to soften and the mind to silence, we create the opportunity for complete surrender.

A therapeutic class that is open for all levels of experience.

Mantra Meditation

Mantra can be translated to the ‘instrument of the mind’ and is a yogic practice that is traditionally used to calm, center, strengthen, and soothe the mind.

This session blends mythical storytelling, Sanskrit chanting, Japa meditation and kirtan.

Whether you’re new to chanting meditation or have experience, this class offers a welcoming space to practice, refine and enjoy the liberation of devotional practice.

Breathwork

Breath is life. By consciously accessing the breath, we are able to explore the subtler areas of the mind; quietening mental chatter and creating space for clarity and a deeper connection with ourselves.

Breathwork classes are a guided explorations of ancient breathwork patterns used to bring peace and vitality, known as Pranayama. Prana is ‘energy’ and energy both flows through us, and makes us. Through consciously controlling the breath and working with rhythmic patterns, we mobilise the diaphragm, expand and elongate the breath cycle which increases the supply of oxygen through the body. A regular and sustained Breathwork practice results in enhanced sensation of the body, feelings of clarity, peace and increased mind-body connection.

Meditation Journey

We live in such a fast paced world, full of information and constant stimulus, we often forget to dedicate time for stillness. Each Meditation Journey is a unique and nourishing guided practice designed to reduce tension and provide space for introspection.

Through quietening the mind, we relieve stress, increase resilience and restore both the body and mind. Practices are usually taken in Savasana.

A deeply nourishing class that is open for all levels of experience.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra, known as the ‘yogic sleep’ is a simple yet profound meditation practice that can induce a state of mental, physical and emotional relaxation. It is a gentle practice taken in Savasana or a comfortable seated position using a combination of breath awareness, body scanning, healing music, imagery and visualisations.

Yoga Nidra is often paired perfectly with breathwork and a sound bath.

A deeply restful opportunity that is open for all levels of experience.

Nidra & Soundbath

Enjoy the blissful benefits of a Yoga Nidra practice and soundbath in the one class! 

You can expect to effortlessly float from your Yoga Nidra experience into an embracing and nurturing soundbath. 

The pairing of these practices will activate the parasympathetic nervous system enabling you to enter a deeply cellular state of relaxation

Soundbath Meditation

A harmonious practice of complete surrender.

Sound Meditation sessions are taken in Savasana where soothing sounds and vibrations of singing bowls, chimes, gongs, rain-sticks and other overtone instruments wash over you, cultivating a profound state of deep body and mind relaxation.  Get cozy and find yourself in a trance of tranquility while being bathed in a sound bath. Sound meditations can ease stress and anxiety

Specialty Series, Courses & Events

We have a range of speciality series, courses and events that we hold at Sama Wellness Studio with the intention of giving you the opportunity to immerse yourself in practice. All speciality series and courses are bookable via the ‘courses’ tab of our booking system. Students on a direct debit membership receive a 15% discount on the cost of special events and courses by Sama Wellness Studio.

Qi Gong Series

 Qi Gong is the mastery of moving vital energy or ‘prana’ within the body through movement and breath.

Drawing on Traditional Chinese Medicine, expect a moving meditation, coordinating slow-flowing movement, deep rhythmic breathing, instilling a calm meditative state of mind.

Open to all levels of experience, conducted at room temperature.

 

Prenatal Yoga Series

Calling all expectant mothers!

Our Prenatal Yoga classes are designed to nourish and nurture you through your pregnancy journey and can be practiced through all trimesters.

Through mindful movement, breathing and poses; the focus is to build strength, encourage space and foster a deep connection with your body and baby, preparing you for birth and beyond.

Suitable for beginners through to more experienced students. Should you give birth during the course, the remaining unattended sessions will be credited to your account to use on future classes.

Postnatal Yoga Series

Our Postnatal Yoga classes are designed to nurture mum’s in the first 12 months postpartum. Suitable for babies to join you on the mat, until they are able to crawl.

Through mindful movement and breathing techniques; the focus is to gently rebuild core stability, rediscover and strengthen the pelvic floor, release tension in the neck, shoulders, back and arms often developed from repetitive bending and breast feeding, and to learn breathing and relaxation techniques to relief stress and fatigue.

Suitable for beginners through to more experienced students; generally women can practice yoga 6 weeks after a natural birth and 12 weeks after a caesarean. We advise you check with your doctor about when it is suitable for you and your body.

Private Yoga

Private yoga classes are taught one-on-one and are uniquely designed to suit your level, personal needs and goals. You get personalised instruction and individualised attention to build a strong foundation and understanding of the practice and of yourself.
