What is Sound Massage?

Sound Massage is a form of Sound Therapy. The Peter Hess Sound Massage is a therapeutic practice where specially crafted sound bowls are placed on or near the body and gently struck to produce vibrations. These vibrations, combined with the soothing tones, create a deeply relaxing experience that can help to release tension, reduce stress, and promote overall wellbeing.

The principle behind Sound Massage is that the human body, which is largely composed of water, can easily absorb and respond to sound waves. The vibrations from the sound bowls resonate with the body’s cells, helping to restore balance, release energy blockages, and encourage a sense of harmony. It’s believed that these sound waves can have a calming effect on the nervous system and enhance the body’s natural healing processes.

In our tranquil Sound Therapy Room, two comfortable beds are set up side by side, allowing you and your partner, friend, or loved one to embark on a shared journey of relaxation and energetic harmony.

Therapeutic-grade Peter Hess® Singing Bowls are gently placed on the fully clothed body and within the energetic field, creating soothing vibrations that wash over you, releasing tension and promoting deep inner calm. Fascia-Focused Sound Massage

This specialised treatment uses the gentle vibrations of therapy-grade Singing Bowls to engage the fascial system, the body’s connective tissue network that affects movement, posture, and well-being. By working with myofascial meridians, sound and vibro-tactile stimuli release tension, improve fluid flow, and restore balance. Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book?

You can book your private session via our ‘appointments’ tab of our online booking portal or app. If wishing to access a pack of multiple passes, you will need to purchase this first, and then book in using one of your credits. Our in house Sound Therapist Sarah has availbility on weekends with additional time during school holiday periods. Bookings for appointments close 24hours ahead of time. 

Is sound therapy safe for everyone?

Sound therapy is generally safe and beneficial for most people. However, if you have a pacemaker, epilepsy, or are in the first trimester of pregnancy, please consult with your doctor before booking a session.

Can I book a sound therapy session as a couple or group?

Yes! We offer a Couples Sound Massage & Mini Sound Bath, where two people can experience a shared session in our tranquil Sound Therapy Room. Private group bookings are also be available upon request, and these are conducted in The Yoga Shala.

How often should I book a sound therapy session?

This depends on your goals. Some people come weekly for ongoing support, while others book sessions as needed for relaxation and stress relief. Regular sessions can enhance long-term well-being. We offer packages for those wishing to book ongoing consecutive sessions at a discounted price. If you unsure on how frequently you should book, please reach out and we can discuss your goals.

What should I wear and do during the session?

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing without heavy jewelry or metal fastenings, as these can interfere with the sound vibrations. During the session, you will simply lie down, fully clothed, on a comfortable massage table while the practitioner gently plays therapeutic singing bowls or other instruments on or around your body. There is nothing you need to do—just relax and allow the soothing vibrations to guide you into a deep state of rest and balance.

How will I feel after my session, and is there anything I should do afterward?

After a sound therapy session, you may feel deeply relaxed, refreshed, and grounded. Some people experience a sense of lightness, emotional release, or heightened awareness, while others simply feel peaceful and well-rested. To integrate the experience, it’s recommended to drink plenty of water, avoid stimulants like caffeine, and allow yourself time to rest or engage in gentle movement. Journaling or quiet reflection can also help process any shifts you may feel.
